Neil Young called American President Donald Trump for making America a “disaster”, and called on American citizens to “stand up” in peaceful protests against his regime.

Young delivered his scathing condemnation of Trump in a strongly worded editorial on the Times Contrarian section of his website.

“Wake up, people!” he writes. “Today the United States is a disaster. Donald Trump is destroying America little by little with his staff of wannabes, people with no experience or talent, closet alcoholic wife beaters, inexperienced leaders who only know how to lie to support Trump’s falsehood so they can keep their unearned positions in his inept government, an unscrupulous Congress full of Republicans. we elected these creps who have no spin, no values, no conscience, no way to save the United States.

“We have to take Trump at his word,” he continues. “Make America Great Again. It’s not going to be easy while he’s trying to turn our cities into battlegrounds so he can cancel our elections with marshal law and escape all responsibility… Something has to change this. We know what we have to do. Stand up. Peacefully in the millions. Too much innocence. [sic] people are dying.

“It’s cold ICE here in America. There was no ICE before Trump. No soldiers on the streets before Trump. Every move he makes is to build instability so he can stay in power.

“He doesn’t know anything about love,” concluded Young. “He doesn’t know that you. Use your love of life, your love of each other, your love of children and theirs and ours. In peace. Now.”

Young’s ode continues from another piece where he expressed his anger at the killing of Renee Nicole Good by a US immigration agent in Minneapolis on January 7th.

“This morning an ICE officer shot a woman in the face three times for no reason in Minneapolis,” he wrote. “These ICE people do not operate like the police. They are thugs. Poor ID. Masked faces. Is ICE the new American Thug police?”

Young also hit out at the administration’s controversial comments about the takeover of Greenland, and the removal of women and people of color from military leadership.

This is not the first time that Young has condemned the presidency of Donald Trump. Last August, the singer-songwriter released a track called Major Crime in which he offered a powerful indictment of Trump’s second term in the White House.

The lyrics for one section of the song run:

“I want to take out the fascists
You have to clean the White House
You don’t want soldiers on our streets
There is major crime in DC in the White House”
