Jewish settlers slaughter Palestinian livestock, attack family in West Bank, IDF reports

According to the IDF, soldiers and police forces followed a report that “several Israeli civilians had killed livestock and vandalized Palestinian property.

Jewish settlers beat and killed animals from a Palestinian family, whose members were also attacked, in the West Bank on Monday, Army Radio reported.

According to the IDF, soldiers and police forces attended a call from the Samua area, following a report that “several Israeli civilians had killed livestock and vandalized property on a piece of Palestinian land.”

The IDF recorded three Palestinians wounded during the incident, who were evacuated for medical treatment.

“Upon the arrival of forces, no suspects were located in the area. Security forces are currently continuing searches at the site,” IDF reported.

Settler violence in the West Bank increases

On Sunday, the lawyer Omer Nahmani, head of the NGO Returning with Wisdom and former spokesman for the chairman of the Democratic Union Yair Golan, sent a letter on Sunday to the head of Shin Bet David Zini, where he urged the Shin Bet to act after three Jews linked to the Hilltop Youth movement allegedly attacked a pregnant Arab woman in Jaffa.

In the letter, the lawyer warned that settler violence is moving from the West Bank to the cities of Israel.

The letter followed an incident in which a woman was allegedly attacked while sitting in her car with her five-year-old son and seven-year-old daughter. According to the family, three young Jews sprayed pepper spray into the vehicle, shouted threats and obscenities, and fled. The woman was evacuated to Wolfson Medical Center in minor condition.

On December 16, an Israeli settler killed a 16-year-old Palestinian youth in Tuqu’ after the funeral of another youth, the city’s mayor said.

“Today… Several young people gathered on the main road when a settler shot 16-year-old Muheeb Jibril in the head,” Tuqu’ Mayor Mohammed al-Badan told Reuters by telephone.

Violence has increased in the West Bank since the start of the war in Gaza in October 2023. Attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank have increased sharply, with the UN reporting the highest number of attacks on record in October.
