Fox News co-host Jessica Tarlov expressed skepticism about one YouTuber who managed to uncover more than “$100 million of fraud alone” in Minnesota, Monday.
“This is going to become incredibly complicated for him,” Tarlov said on The Fifth about Minnesota Gov. Team Waltz (D) during a discussion of the large amounts of fraud recently uncovered in Walz’s state. “Obviously, he’s been considering 2028. I think that’s going to be more difficult when something like this has happened in your state while you’ve been in office, even if you weren’t personally involved in it.”
Reaction to a YouTuber By Nick Shirley recent viral video, which alleged that several Minnesota child care centers were empty and being used to fraudulently siphon $110 million from the state, Tarlov said:
Nick Shirley reporting, there’s no way this kid would have discovered a $100 million worth of fraud on his own. There have been tons of people quietly working behind the scenes, including local independent journalists who have been uncovering this. I don’t know about the veracity of every single thing he went and saw – which is being discussed online – but obviously there is a big problem here.
It doesn’t do the Democrats any favors to get partisan about this and to dig in and say, “Oh, it absolutely couldn’t happen because it’s my team that happened.” That argument that has not been covered is ridiculous. People don’t just want to do simple Google searches. The biggest story about this came from the New York Times and it made liberals look terrible […] It wasn’t published in a far right publication, it was published in the Times.
After his video on child care centers went viral last week, Shirley called for Walz to be held accountable for widespread fraud in his state.
“Tim Walz and the fraudsters are not running away from this. In one day my crew and I discovered more than $110,000,000 in fraud, this is only the tip of the iceberg,” wrote Shirley. “We the people simply work too hard and pay too much in taxes to allow this to happen, they need to be held accountable.”
House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) also demanded answers on the video, writing, “4 million dollars of hard earned tax dollars going to an education center that can’t even spell teaching correctly. Will you explain that, @tim_walz?”
