El Paso barber’s act of kindness ends in viral arrest video

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — An act of kindness took an unfortunate turn when a homeless man was reportedly arrested earlier this week after he became aggressive in the entrance of a barbershop in El Paso’s Upper Valley, just moments after he was given free money, a haircut, snacks and water.

A video posted online by a local barber has gone viral, showing him arriving at the barber shop, where a man is already sitting at the entrance. The barber greets the man and gives him money before asking if he wants some potato chips or water, to which the man says yes.

Once inside the shop, the barber is seen grabbing at least three bags of potato chips and handing them to the man. They exchange a few words, and the barber offers the man a haircut, and he agrees. The video then shows the barber giving the man a haircut, and once he’s done, he’s seen walking the man to the door, saying, “Okay, man. Take care. I love you, brother. God bless you.”

The video cuts, and the barber is now seen inside the shop with the doors locked as the man is outside banging on the door aggressively and shouting. The barber can be heard telling the man that he just gave him a haircut and that he is ungrateful.

Moments later, El Paso police officers arrive outside the business where they are recorded confronting the man outside the store. The incident escalated, and two officers were seen distracting the man, and one of them seems to have shocked the man with a stun gun.

KTSM 9 News reached out to the El Paso Police Department for more information on the incident, and confirmed that the man was arrested for criminal trespassing and resisting arrest after responding to a call that came in just after 7:20 pm on Monday, December 29th.

The barber, who did not want to be identified by name and goes by z_cutzzz on social media, has previously shared similar acts of kindness online. His accounts include barbershop content, lifestyle posts, and recurring messages encouraging people to be kind to one another.

When KTSM 9 News asked “z_cutzzz” how he felt about the way the incident turned out, he said, “I can’t control the outcome of every situation but I keep my head up and know that it’s all for the glory of God so I can’t lose.”
