‘Complete’ Nick Reiner Cut Off From His Family As Insiders Reveal Why He Was Fired By Hotshot Lawyer

Nick Reiner‘s the lawyer’s sudden decision to quit is being speculated to be due to financial reasons.

Alan Jackson he was representing the accused until last January 7, during which he announced his decision to withdraw from the case. Nick was subsequently assigned a public defender, and the hearing was rescheduled for February.

Now, insiders have also claimed that Nick Reiner’s family has completely cut him off financially and emotionally as they are “devastated” and “can no longer support him”.

The start of the new year brought the long-anticipated trial of Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old man accused of murdering his celebrity parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner.

However, on January 7, when the trial took place, his lawyer, Alan Jackson, suddenly announced to the court that he was withdrawing from the case.

Sources have now shared with the British journalist, Rob Shuter’s #Shuterscoop, that the family of the alleged killer cut him off.

“The family has completely cut Nick off,” said a close source. “They’re devastated. But they’ve realized they can’t support him anymore—not financially, not emotionally, not morally.”

Another source stated that Nick misbehaved with his legal team, which may have caused problems with Jackson.

“Even with the best legal team, a client must cooperate. Nick’s behavior over the past weeks—erratic, threatening, unpredictable—has left no other option. The family cannot finance chaos,” the source claimed.

“They loved him once,” the insider continued, “but what he did, what he became… was monstrous. They can no longer protect him, and they can no longer finance his destruction.”

While Jackson did not reveal his reasons for quitting, experts suggest his decision was likely linked to the financial demands of the case.

The lawyer is believed to be among the most sought-after defense lawyers and is likely to have commanded at least a seven-figure retainer.

This cost, along with future legal costs, may have been too steep for the accused to sustain.

“Nick Reiner has no money, if he did, he wouldn’t be living in his parents’ guesthouse. And under the California Slayer Statute, you kill your parents – you’re disinherited,” said former federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani, according to the New York Post.

After Jackson left the case, the court appointed public defender Kimberly Greene to represent the accused.

The indictment has since been pushed back to February, which means that Nick’s plea is still unknown at this time.

Nor has there been any indication that Nick’s family plans to retain another private attorney.

According to Seth Zuckerman, a defense attorney who once represented actor Jonathan Majors in a domestic violence case, this is further proof that Jackson’s exit may have been financially motivated.

“If they had the financial resources, they would go hire another private attorney,” Zuckerman said of Nick’s family.

Criminal defense attorney Mark Bederow also shares similar sentiments as Rahmani and Zuckerman about Jackson’s retirement.

“Such representation can cost an extraordinary amount of money,” Bederow said. “Probably the money is not there.

“I don’t know who is controlling the family’s assets, but I imagine that whatever hope there was from the client or the family, that is simply not there, and the defense costs so much,” he added.

Since Reiner’s arrest in connection with the deaths of his parents, rumors that he could face the death penalty have circulated widely.

Speculation intensified after District Attorney Nathan Hochman addressed the case during a press conference in December.

At the time, Hochman stated that the murder count Nick faces carries a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty.

However, Rahmani and Bederow feel it is unlikely that Hochman will pursue the death penalty if Nick is found guilty.

“I don’t think it will be a death penalty case. We haven’t had an execution in California in almost 20 years,” Rahmani said.

“There is no way this is going to end up being a death penalty case,” Bederow also stated. “I don’t think the Reiner family would want that.”

In keeping with Bederow’s suggestion, the Reiner family appears to have expressed their dismay at the possibility of the death penalty.

A source close to the family recently said that they feel that “Nick is seriously ill,” and that ending his life will in no way bring back his dead parents.

“They believe that killing him won’t bring Rob and Michele back — and it won’t fix what went wrong,” the insider told Rob Shuter’s. #ShutterScoop last month.

As the case continues, the family will also fight back against any recommendation for the death penalty and prefer that Nick be offered mental help if he is eventually found guilty.

“For them justice means treatment, responsibility, and making sure this never happens again,” said a different source, apparently referring to the recent discovery of Nick’s schizophrenia. “Another death is not justice.”
