Donald Trump returned to bash Bill Maher on Saturday, nearly a year after the HBO Real Time host dined with him at the White House.
The president took offense to some of Maher’s jokes and commentary on Friday, including the president’s prediction that China would end all hockey in Canada.

In a lengthy Truth Social post on Saturday, Trump wrote, “Sometimes in life you waste time! TV Host Bill Maher asked to have dinner with me through one of his friends, also a friend of mine, and I agreed. He walked into the famous Oval Office very different from what I thought he would be. He was extremely nervous, had ZERO self-confidence and, to calm down, he immediately asked for his nerves. He told me, ‘I’ve never felt like this before, I’m actually scared.’ In one respect, it was somewhat endearing! Anyway, we had a great dinner, he was quick, friendly, and he seemed like a nice guy and, for his first show after our dinner, he was very respectful about our meeting — But with everything I’ve done to bring our Country back from ‘OBLIVION,’ why wouldn’t he be?”
Trump wrote, “In any case, it was a total waste of time for me to have this jerk in the White House and last night, after explaining what a DISASTER Canadian ‘Leaders’ have to deal with, how Canada has “crushed” the United States for years on TRADE (But no more!), I jokingly stated in TRUTH that, “The first thing China will eliminate permanently and that making Canada The Stanley Cup.”
Trump also wrote that Maher “went on and on about the Hockey statement, like ‘What kind of person would say such a stupid thing,’ as if I was being serious when I said it. Fortunately, his TV Ratings are so low that no one learns about his various Fake News statements about me. He is no different than Kimmel, Fallon, or Colbert but, I have to admit more, Bill is a mild talent! overrated LIGHTWEIGHT, and Republicans should stop using it to show how the Left is coming over ours – Our Base, the Greatest of All Time, laugh at your weakness when you do this Maher asked me if he could come back to the White House and, with his friend, also asked to come to the White House Party nicer, but he didn’t spend much time, WORRY EYE! wasted on him Bill yet he suffers from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS!), and there is nothing that will ever be done to cure him of this very serious illness Thank you for your attention to this small matter!
In April, Maher dined with Trump at the White House, in a visit arranged by Kid Rock, a longtime supporter of the president. Maher described Trump as “graceful and measured,” and “much more self-aware than he lets on in public.”
He also said that he still did not have a “good feeling” about the Trump administration “and he will be critical about a lot of what he is doing … But I also think that he now understands that I have a job to do.”
A spokesman for Maher did not immediately return a request for comment.
