Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) blasted right-wing personality Mike Cernovich Wednesday over her decision to resign from Congress early.
Greene, once a staunch MAGA loyalist who clashed with President Donald Trump for weeks, announced Friday that she would resign her seat in the House on January 5, 2026. In a more than 10-minute video posted on X, Greene detailed how she did not want her district to “suffer a primary that hurts and hates me” from the GOP president while she is likely to lose. the ground — the GOP22 midterms.
“And then, you will be expected to defend the President against impeachment after he hatefully threw tens of millions of dollars against me and tried to destroy me,” Greene continued in the video.
The sudden announcement, which shook the political world, came exactly one week after Trump withdrew his support and endorsement of the firebrand MAGA, making it clear that he had had enough of her criticism on major issues, including the release of files related to Jeffrey Epstein, the government shutdown, foreign policy and health care.
While Trump described Greene as an “ugly lunatic,” a “traitor” and a “disgrace” to the Republican Party, Greene said his public jabs could be seen as “a dog whistle for dangerous radicals who could lead to serious attacks on me and my family.”
“This puts blood in the water and creates a feeding frenzy,” Greene wrote in a post on X. “And ultimately it can lead to a harmful or even fatal outcome.”
Cernovich hit out at Greene again late Tuesday, after she said the X platform has become “toxic, hateful, and divisive” and “not real life.”
“You need to serve your full term,” Cernovich wrote in response.
The congresswoman, who was elected for the first time in the House in 2020, is leaving in the middle of her two-year term.
Greene went nuclear against Cernovich on Wednesday, replying to his post, “Oh I haven’t suffered enough for you sitting all day behind a screen?”
“I should stay until I get assassinated like our friend Charlie Kirk. Would that be good enough for you then?” Greene asked. “Posting shit on the internet all day isn’t fighting.”
She continued: “Get out of the a– and run for Congress. I’ve fought more than anyone else in the real arena, not social media. Get off your little pebble and put your money where your mouth is.”
In another post on her congressional account, Greene accused Cernovich of “typical” behavior by Republican men, saying he was telling her to “get back in the kitchen and fix me something to eat.”
“F — you are in the sweetest Southern drawl I can pronounce,” said Greene.
“I’ve been trying to tell all you ‘men’ that our kitchen pantry is empty of cobwebs, our house has been ransacked, the windows and doors are broken and broken, and the greedy rich bastards have twisted your minds into a sick state that you all continue in the toxic two party political system that acts like the college football playoffs and your children are still you get stuck in a college football box and your kids are a grave,” she added.
Cernovich later responded to Greene, saying her attack “makes no sense.”
“I always defended you against the insider trader lies and promoted you aggressively when you were starting out,” Cernovich said. “I never came close to insulting you. You signed up for a full term. It would be sexist for people not to expect you to fulfill it.”
Like Greene, several other House Republicans are also considering leaving their posts in the middle of their terms due to frustrations with censorship, threats and tests of loyalty to Trump, according to Axios.
Jake Sherman of Punchbowl News reported earlier this week that a handful of GOP lawmakers had sent a message to the sports saying they are experiencing the dilemma, with a senior House Republican claiming the White House has “treated ALL members like garbage. ALL of them.”
