Donald Trump calls for an immediate change in NFL rules after what he saw in Super Bowl 60

Donald Trump reacted strongly to Super Bowl 60, calling for immediate change after what he described as a damaging moment for the NFL.

After the game, the former US President focused his criticism on the halftime show and quickly expanded his comments to include league politics.

Trump shared his reaction in a post published by TrumpTruthOnX, responding directly to Bad Bunny’s halftime performance.

He wrote, “The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, ever! It makes no sense, it is an affront to the Greatness of America, and it does not represent our standards of success, creativity, or excellence.

“Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for little kids who are watching from all over the United States, and all over the World.”

The comments were uncompromising and immediate. Trump framed the halftime show not as a matter of taste, but as a failure to reflect what he believes the Super Bowl should represent.

As is often the case, Trump’s reaction quickly spread across social media, becoming part of the broader debate surrounding the NFL’s entertainment choices.

Why Donald Trump wants the NFL to change its kickoff rule

Trump’s post did not stop with the halftime show. He also used the moment to call for a specific NFL rule change.

He continued, “This ‘show’ is just a ‘slap in the face’ for our Country, which is setting new standards and records every day — including the best Stock Market and 401(k)s in history!

“There is nothing inspiring about this mess of a halftime show and watch, it will get rave reviews from the fake news media, because they have no clue of what is going on in the real world, and, by the way, the NFL should immediately replace its ridiculous new kickoff rule. Make America great again!”

The mention of the kickoff rule stood out. Instead of limiting his response to entertainment, Trump shifted focus to on-field changes introduced by the league.

His criticism suggested frustration with what he saw as unnecessary adjustments to the game itself.

The NFL’s revised kickoff rule, which was introduced in 2024, has already divided fans, with some praising the improvement and others arguing it takes away the excitement.

As Super Bowl 60 continued, the former president’s comments ensured that the halftime show debate expanded beyond the music.

It became, once again, a flashpoint of how sport, culture and politics come together on the biggest stage.
