Texas Governor Greg Abbott has declared a state of emergency for Texans ahead of a major winter and snow storm that will hit the state this weekend.

Some forecasters warned that the storm could be “potentially catastrophic” across Texas into the Carolinas.
And Texas Senator Ted Cruz was noticedwell… reportedly, fly to Laguna Beach, California.

If you recall, Cruz did something similar back in 2021, fleeing to Cancun, Mexico, while millions of people were left without power amid a devastating and deadly winter storm.

On the r/Texas subreddit, in a post titled “‘Fled’ Cruz is at it again,” Texans also shared their thoughts:

After facing backlash for fleeing the winter storm in 2021, Cruz told reporters, “Look, obviously it was a mistake, and in hindsight I wouldn’t have done it. I was trying to be a father, and we all made decisions – when you have two girls who have been cold for two days and power, ‘you don’t have school, why don’t we go, let’s get out of here.’ I think there’s a lot of parents who are like, ‘Okay, if I can do that, great.’ That’s what I wanted to do.”

In a statement to the Daily Beast, a spokesperson for Ted Cruz said, “Senator Cruz is currently on a pre-planned work trip that was scheduled weeks in advance. He will be back in Texas before the storm is projected to hit.”
