FBI releases images of seized motorcycles as search for Ryan Wedding continues

Dozens of motorcycles believed to belong to Ryan Wedding, a former Olympic snowboarder turned alleged drug kingpin, were seized this month by authorities in Mexico, the FBI confirmed Monday as it released images of the property.

The 44-year-old Canadian national, who is on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list, is wanted for allegedly running a transnational drug trafficking operation that sends cocaine from Colombia, through Mexico and Southern California, to Canada and elsewhere, according to the FBI.

This month, Mexican authorities “seized a large number of motorcycles” estimated to be worth $40 million, believed to belong to the fugitive, the Los Angeles FBI said in a statement on social media Monday, along with several photos of the motorcycles.

The FBI, the Los Angeles Police Department, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Mexican authorities collaborated on the “successful capture,” the Los Angeles FBI said.

Last week, Mexican officials announced the seizure of items “related to a former Olympic athlete who is among the 10 most wanted fugitives by US authorities,” although they did not specifically identify Wedding.

The items included 62 “high-end” motorcycles, as well as two vehicles, artwork, two Olympic medals, drugs and other items, according to Mexico’s Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection.

The items were seized from four properties in Mexico City and the state of Mexico during the execution of search warrants, according to the agency, which said it was committed to “strengthening international cooperation to stop perpetrators of violence and combat high-impact crimes.”

A wedding was charged in federal court in Los Angeles last year with several charges, including the management of a continuing criminal enterprise, committing murder in connection with a continuing criminal enterprise and various drug crimes.

New charges announced in November allege he ordered the killing of a witness in the federal case. The victim was shot multiple times in the head at a restaurant in Colombia in January, federal prosecutors in Los Angeles said.
