Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo he insisted that all is well and good in the President’s economy Donald Trump.
Trump was hampered by polls showing that the majority of Americans disapprove of his handling of the economy. Only 36% of Americans approve of his performance on the issue, according to a Fox News poll last month. Meanwhile, nearly half of Americans say Trump’s policies have hurt them personally.
But when asked this week what grade he would give the economy, Trump replied, “A-plus-plus-plus-plus-plus,” and claimed that “prices are coming down substantially.”
On Friday Hannitythe host and Bartiromo tried to counter the prevailing popular sentiment.
Sean Hannity he pointed to current gasoline prices and asked his guest, “What’s your analysis?”
Bartiromo began by bashing the Biden administration, during which inflation reached its highest level in 40 years.
“We remember when the [Consumer Price Index] increased by 9.1%,” she said. “President Trump had this as a priority when he entered the Oval Office for the second time. This was his priority. You mentioned energy. Yes, that was one of the main strategic ways he used in terms of keeping inflation down, by putting more oil in the market, by basically sending messages to the market that more oil was coming because we were going to ‘drill, baby, drill’”.
She then turned to voters’ concerns about affordability, which Trump called a “hoax” perpetrated by Democrats. Bartiromo said she agrees:
There are certainly commodities that are still high. People are frustrated with housing and housing prices. People are frustrated with certain food items. But there are a number of things that President Trump has already done incredibly well.
So, when he says that this issue of affordability is a hoax, he is right! He’s basically talking about how the Democrats took this word “affordability” and used it as their calling card for the 2026 elections. They think that these victories of the Democrats that we have just seen in Miami, in New York City, in other places like New Jersey, we should not be surprised that the Democrats won those races. These are all blue states and cities. So, no surprise there. What is surprising is that after all these years, Republicans continue to be detached from the messages of the Democrats. I have to tell you, I don’t think people really feel as bad as the Democrats are talking about.
The economy is doing well.
Bartiromo went on to mention Trump’s fantastic claim of getting nearly $20 trillion in foreign investments into the United States
“There is $18 trillion of new investment that has come into this country,” she said.
According to the White House website, Trump secured “$9.6 trillion”, but even this number is quite questionable. The amount represents the sum total of figures that were simply promised, promised, or promised, regardless of whether there is any legally binding agreement. For example, the White House made a Saudi pledge to invest $1 trillion, but it is not binding in any way. Moreover, this figure is almost equivalent to the entire GDP of Saudi Arabia.
Trump has taken heat for his glowing reviews of the economy, even within his own party. This week, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) reacted to the president’s rosy grade on the economy by saying, “You can’t turn on people and tell them their bills are affordable, and you can’t tell them the economy is at A+++. You just can’t do that, and I think it’s an insult to people’s intelligence.”
